The University of Tampere Foundation is entitled to accept donations and bequests and to increase its assets in other ways, but not by engaging in business activity.
The Foundation and its funds enable private individuals, organizations and enterprises to contribute to the discovery of new knowledge. Research that builds society can be funded through the general funds or funds can be channelled through special funds to problem areas the benefactor deems important. Smaller donations or a fund bearing the name of the benefactor serve the same purpose: towards a better Finland. The minimum sun for setting up a fund in a benefactor’s name is currently hundred thousand Euros.
According to a decision of the Finnish Tax Administration, in the period 2009-2013 donations not less than 850 Euros and not exceeding fifty thousand Euros may be deducted from their revenue in taxation by the donating organization. This deduction is for one year at a time.
