Forms of Support

The grants for doctoral education

The main form of support provided by the University of Tampere Foundation is aid to those preparing doctoral dissertations. This is done by granting a sum decided annually by the board for to doctoral education at the University of Tampere.

Travel grants

The Foundation's travel grants (500 Euros per applicant per calendar year) are intended for university of Tampere postgraduates supported by stipends who hope to attend a conference/meeting abroad and who will be giving presentations there. Graduate school postgraduates are equated with researchers on stipends.

Applications in applicants´own words giving the applicant´s source of funding, position as a researcher in graduate school or salaried employment, should be addressed to the board of the University of Tampere Foundation and accompanied by the the programme of the conference in question or by a letter of invitation from the conference organizer and the budget for the journey. When the (paper) travel bill is submitted after the event the original receipts for travel services should be attached.

Stipends for master's theses

Donations received from organizations and associations can be channeled through the Foundation to support the master's theses of students on basic degree programmes.

Assistance for scientific meetings

The University of Tampere Foundation grants assistance for international conferences and meetings arranged in Tampere in collaboration with a scientific unit of the University. The application in the applicant's own words should be accompanied by the programme of the event and the budget. Assistance will be granted mainly on a basis of evening out losses.
