27.11. Symposium about Exchange Students' Experiences on University Pedagogy in Different Cultures
Time: Friday 27th of November 2009 at 11.00–12.30 Place: University of Tampere, Main building, Main auditorium (Kalevantie 4, Tampere)
Different universities and different cultures have their own pedagogical approaches. This symposium discusses the similarities and differences between teaching methods, ways of learning, teacher-student interaction etc. from the student point of view. These issues are reflected in discussion panel by foreign exchange students studying at the University of Tampere and Finnish students who have participated in international exchange.
Themes of the symposium:
- Teaching approaches; teaching and learning situations
- Content of studies
- Student's own (study)role in a foreign culture
- Academic teaching, learning and competence in different cultures
- Ideas for pedagogical development
The symposium is open for everyone: students, teachers, researchers and all who are interested in university pedagogy and studying abroad to listen and participate on this discussion. The discussion is held in English.
