Food workers on three-day strike

A strike of food workers is shutting down 12 large bakeries and meat processing plants. The three-day action began last night (Tuesday 6.4.2010). The strike affects employees working at some bakeries of Fazer and Vaasa, and some meat product plants of Atria, HK Ruokatalo, and Saarioinen. The strike may lead to low supplies of some food products.

According to the Finnish Food and Drink Industries’ Federation  there should be only slight problems in availability of all goods because companies had prepared for the situation. However, wider action may be possible later in April.
