Prizes of the IIDA Idea Competition 2011 to TUT

IIDA is an annual idea competition for students and staff at Tampere University of Technology (TUT), the University of Tampere (UTA) and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK). This year, a total of 58 entries were submitted to the competition.

The winners of the 2011 competition were announced on 12 May 2011. This year’s winners were Riitta Miettinen from Tampere University of Technology (TUT), who came up with a solution for the automatic processing of challenging tissue samples, and Francescantonio Della Rosa and Jari Nurmi from the same university who submitted an idea for the development of a highly affordable indoor motion detection system.

The runners-up were Yibin Liu and Junshen Fu, both from Tampere University of Technology, whose entry focused on augmented reality and new content for strategy- and adventure-based board games and Francescantonio Della Rosa’s other entry that concerned the development of mobile applications based on a novel data transmission method.
