Nummisuutarit - an opera for actors.
Aleksis Kivi wrote the first signifigant novel in the Finnish language, and is often called the father of Finnish literature. In 1865 Aleksis Kivi won the State Prize for his comedy Nummisuutarit (The Cobblers on the Heath), which is still regularily performed in theatres. Now, the play has been modified into an opera sung in Finnish, by Kaj Chydenius, a notable finnish composer. The opera is performed in the renovated Teatterimonttu in the Tampere University campus. The opera is performed by students of theatre studies.
