22.-24.6. Midsummer Celebrations in Tampere

This year there is a major city Midsummer Festival called Juhannuslaituri organized at the Railway Station of Tampere starting at 18 o'clock on Midsummer Eve (Friday 22nd of June). A group of TAMK Students are part of the organizing team of this event. The event includes dancing (band: Heartbreakers), fashion show, burlesque shows, photo exhibition and much more. Also a special Midsummer Train travels through Finland during Midsummer from the capital city Helsinki to Lapland and this train makes a stop in Tampere at 21.38-22.11 on Midsummer Eve. In Tampere you can see a bonfire on Midsummer Eve (Friday, 22nd of June), for example, in the Särkänniemi Adventure Park, where a bonfire is lit at 18.00, if the weather allows it. You will find more information of their tickets and opening hours at: http://www.sarkanniemi.fi/

Viikinsaari Island has also a Midsummer Party on Midsummer Eve (Friday, 22nd of June). The celebration includes a bonfire at 21 o'clock (if the weather allows it). Artists: Jaana Hiltunen & Sheriff in the dance pavillion, troubadour Jesse Alanen & accordionist Sami Majamäki in the restaurant. Tickets 13 €/person starting from 17 o'clock. Tallipiha Stable Yards (address: Kuninkaankatu 4) celebrates Midsummer on Sunday 24th of June at 11.00-17.00. The shops and the café are open and music is performed by Trio Nautilus at 12-16 o'clock.
