Accommodation

Our conference hotel is Scandic Tampere Station at the corner of Itsenäisyydenkatu and Ratapihankatu Streets, close to the railway station. Address: Ratapihankatu 37. NB: there are two Scandic hotels in Tampere rather close to each other. Scandic Tampere Station is on the east side of the railway, whereas the other hotel, Scandic Tampere City, is on Hämeenkatu Street, on the west side of the railway.

The distance between the hotel and the Linna Building at the Main Campus of the University of Tampere is ca. 700 m, see the map. For finding the Linna Building from the hotel, exit the hotel on Itsenäisyydenkatu Street. With the hotel at your back, take you left hand direction and walk along Itsenäisyydenkatu Street until you come to traffic lights. Go across Itsenäisyydenkatu Street and Yliopistonkatu Street. Walk along the left side of Yliopistonkatu Street past the white Tampere Hall (Tampere-talo) until you come to a crossroads with traffic lights. The low, white main building of the University is in front of you, on top of the hill. Go across Kalevantie Street and turn right. Continue along Kalevantie Street, leaving the main building of the University on your left. Use the campus underpass to go to the other side of Kalevantie Street, where the Linna building is (it actually says "LINNA" on the wall of the building). Adress: Kalevantie 5. See the route on a map.

Internet

The University of Tampere is connected to Eduroam. If you are an employee or a student of a connected university, you can use the internet for free at the University of Tampere through your Eduroam account. The lunch includes salad, a selection of main courses, bread, dessert and coffee. The restaurant is located on Kalevantie Street, close to the Linna Building at the Main Campus of the University of Tampere. For finding the restaurant from Väinö Linna Auditorium, first go upstairs and exit the building through the main door. With the Linna building at your back, take you right hand direction and walk along Kalevantie Street ca. 100 m. Cross the Kalevantie Street and Kanslerinrinne Street at traffic lights and continue another 30 m along the other side of Kalevantie Street. The restaurant is inside the Technopolis premises, downstairs. Address: Kalevantie 2. See the route on a map.

The conference dinner, served for the speakers, the commentators and the CoE members, takes place at Restaurant Finlayson Palace on Monday at 19:00. The dinner is an informal gathering with a buffet service. Dress code: smart casual. The restaurant has been informed of special dietary needs. Finlayson Palace is located on Kuninkaankatu Street, downtown Tampere. For finding the restaurant from the hotel, first walk along Itsenäisyydenkatu Street through the railway tunnel in order to enter Hämeenkatu Street (which is the main street in Tampere). With the railway tunnel at your back, walk along the right side of Hämeenkatu Street, across the bridge and past the Central Market Square (ca. 800 m) until you see a parade called Kuninkaankatu Street on the right. Continue along Kuninkaankatu Street across Satakunnankatu Street until you see the white picket fence of Finlayson Palace (ca. 600 m). Address: Kuninkaankatu 1. See the route on a map.
