SOVAKO (Finnish Social Research Doctoral Program) arranges the traditional winter school a day before the annual sociology conference. All social sciences doctoral students may apply. Program includes guest lectures, participation to one working group and an evening dinner.
Sovako Winter School 2018 brings currently topical issues for discussion and offers possibility discuss PhD working papers and more in Joensuu 14.3.2018
Working group teachers are professor Amade M’charek, professor Ilpo Helén and professor Hannu Ruonavaara. Amade M’charek will deliver lecture with the title: Anthropology of wild objects: On race and other slippery categories’.

You can apply to one working group. Each working group teachers want a slightly different abstracts and texts etc.
Please send your application for the winter school by 23rd of February 2018 by e-mail to the SOVAKO coordinator Pekka Rantanen (email@example.com). Attachments can be either a Word or PDF files.
Each group will be a maximum of 10 participants. The selection is made on the basis of applications. Mention in your application, the group to which you want to participate. Also tell us to which university you do your doctoral studies and who are your supervisors.
The coordinator informs selected PhD students 5th of March 2018 at the latest.
SOVAKO pays for the accepted participants traveling from outside Joensuu (reasonable) travel expenses (receipts required), accommodation in a two-person room in a hotel for one night (between 14th and 15th), and evening dinner in a restaurant Wednesday 14th March 2018.
