Development of speech, language and communication skills in childhood

 

Normal and deviant language development

The project focuses on narrative language use in typically developing children and aims at validating and standardizing tools for clinical diagnostics. In addition to normative data, stories have been collected from preterm children and children with language or hearing impairment.

Researchers: prof. Anna-Maija Korpijaakko-Huuhka and lecturer, PhD Leena Rantala in co-operation with docent Anneli Yliherva, University of Oulu

 

The development of babbling and early lexicon in Finnish twins. A Follow-up study up to two years of corrected age

MA Hanna Elo, Doctoral thesis under preparation

The research is funded by the Ministry of Education. Hanna Elo is a member of Langnet, the Finnish doctoral programme in language studies.
