The effectiveness of Narrative Exposure Therapy in the treatment of traumatic symptoms of children exposed to violence

In this project, we are investigating how traumatized children and young people can be helped. Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is a method developed for the treatment of complex trauma. The study investigates NET's effectiveness among children and adolescents arriving from war zones and those exposed to domestic violence by comparing it with the in Treatment As Usual (TAU) in the randomized controlled trial (RCT). The research is carried out as a clinical study in psychiatric polyclinics and in the specialized trauma units. The research was funded by the Academy of Finland (2014-17) and will continue by analyzing the data.
