Position: doctoral student
Research interests: Johanna Hokka is interested in the social relevance and the knowledge production of social sciences. In her PhD thesis Hokka studies how the relevance of sociology is comprehended among the sociologists. Her starting point is that the ongoing political and socio-cultural changes and the transformations in the university sector are shaping the role of sociology in society and in the academia. With the cross-cultural perspective, the aim is to contrast the significance and meanings attached to sociology in two Nordic counties: in Finland and Sweden.
