Pierre Bourdieu on Knowledge, Science and Power

How to address the interplay of knowledge, science and power with the help of Bourdieu’s concepts? What does the work of Bourdieu offer for the study of universities, research institutes and other higher education institutions? This seminar focuses on the benefits of the work of Pierre Bourdieu to Science and Technology Studies and Higher Education Studies.

The seminar will open with a lecture Field, habitus, boundary work, and STS: Studying knowledge production through a Bourdieusian perspective by professor Mathieu Albert, University of Toronto, Canada. Professor Albert is a sociologist specialised in sociology of knowledge, Bourdieu, interdisciplinary studies and sociology of health professions.
