Studying Social Sciences in the City of Pori

University of Tampere operates networked in a multiscience environment of University Consortium of Pori with Tampere University of Technology, University of Turku and Aalto University.

University of Tampere, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Department at Pori focuses on research and education on working life and human services. The department offers studies leading to Bachelor', Master's and Doctor's degrees in social sciences. In addition, the department admits students with a suitable Bachelor's Degree to Master's Degree Programme in Human Services.

The major subjects are social policy, social work and sociology, which may be studied also as minors. In addition, the students have a wide range of alternatives concerning subjects provided by the other universities of the University Consortium. The degree students may also enjoy the possibilities provided by the Open University and the JOO and SataJOO Agreements (national and regional arrangements for students of other universities). Students interested to gain gain international experience may either apply for an exchange  period in a foreign university or they may have their practical training, included in social policy and sociology studies, abroad.
