Ethnographies of Mobility - International seminar

Global reality witnesses several emergent forms of mobile lifestyles that question officially recognized and legally privileged forms of human mobility. Whether the question is of hyper mobile western lifestyle migrants or irregular migrants, suitcase traders or transmigrants these new mobilities can be scrutinized within a larger framework of global economic and technological transformation and of production of hierarchies of mobile subjects.

This seminar seeks to open new methodological and theoretical perspectives to new mobile lives with the specific focus on the following themes:

• The interplay between mobile lifestyle strategies and global economic and political transformation
• New methodological and theoretical perspectives for studying mobile lives and mobile subjectivities
• Case studies focusing on hierarchies of mobilities and their interplay in particular landscapes of these mobilities
