PERLA brings together research on childhood, youth and families, offering a venue for multidisciplinary dialogue and collaboration. The Centre works to improve the quality of childhood, youth and family research at the University of Tampere, to strengthen connections between scholars from different disciplines within the university and beyond, and to highlight the importance of childhood, youth and family issues also more generally in the society.
PERLA organizes academic seminars and conferences, provides teaching and supervision, works actively with scientific publishers, and provides information about the research carried out in the University of Tampere.
PERLA offers a platform for the development of new multidisciplinary research projects and innovative collaborations between researchers and postdoctoral students from different disciplines. The main themes of research are:
