Erica Burman Erica Burman

Professor of Education, University of Manchester, UK

Erica Burman is Professor of Education, Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Psychotherapist and registered Group Analyst. Professor Burman is known as a critical developmental psychologist and as a methodologist specialising in innovative and activist qualitative research. Burman's research has focused on critical developmental and educational psychology, feminist and postcolonial treory, childhood studies, and on critical mental health practice (particularly around gender and cultural issues).

Burman’s authored books are e.g. Deconstructing Developmental Psychology (3rd Edition 2017) and Developments: Child, Image, Nation (2008). She is a co-editor (with Dan Cook) of the SAGE Encyclopedia of Childhood and Childhood Studies (forthcoming).

Karmela Liebkind

Karmela Liebkind

Professor of Social Psychology, University of Helsinki, Finland

Social psychologist Professor Karmela Liebkind has pursued a long career studying e.g. intergroup relations, minorities, refugees, ethnicity and discrimination. Besides research Liebkind has also worked in practice to promote equality and cultural integration. She has been visible in media concerning racism and immigration in e.g. Helsingin Sanomat (2013, 2015) and Huvudstadsbladet (2016).

Liebkind has been authoring for several books e.g. Acculturation and Identity (Liebkind, Mähönen, Varjonen & Jasinskaja-Lahti 2016) and Handbook of language and ethnic identity (ed. Fishman 1999, 2010).

Kip Jones

Kip Jones

BA MSc PhD, Director of the Centre for Qualitative Research, Reader in Performative Social Science (PSS), Bournemouth University, UK

Kip Jones is a pioneer of performative social science, combining arts with academic research and dissemination. Jones has expertise in close relationships, sexuality and sexual orientations, aging and identity along with developing qualitative research.

Jones acted as Executive Producer and Author of the award-winning short biopic RUFUS STONE (2012). Jones’ accomplishments have been reported widely in the media, including:  BBC Radio 4, BBC TV news, Times Higher Education, LSE Impact Blog, Sunday New York Times, International Herald-Tribune and The Independent.

Don Kulick

Distinguished University Professor of Anthropology, Head of the ENGAGING VULNERABILITY research program, Uppsala Universitet, Sweden

Professor Don Kulick is an antropologist whose interests and studies reach variety of topics from all over world. Kulick's latest research concerns disability, the communication between humans and animals and dying languages. Kulick is the head of interdisciplinary project ENGAGING VULNERABILITY that aims to shape vulnerability as a position that can also create, engage and empower.

Kulick's authored books are e.g. Loneliness and its opposite: sex, disability and the ethics of engagement (Kulick & Rydström2015) and Language and Sexuality (Cameron & Kulick 2003).
