The Finnish doctoral training network in philosophy will organize 

The 2017 Congress for Doctoral Students in Philosophy

at the University of Tampere

Mon 23 – Wed 25 October 2017.

  • About 40 min. slots (including discussion) for individual speakers.
  • Recruitment of competent supervisors/commentators.
  • No parallel sessions.
  • All the participants will be accommodated by the organizer 
  • Congress dinner (Tuesday evening, Ravintola Telakka, 2nd floor)

Accommodation: Holiday Inn Tampere-Central Station (there is an access to the hotel straight from platform 1: steps down and walk through the park)

Helsinki-Tampere

Train: 8.24 – 9.56 (Pendolino) and 7.40 – 9.48 (Lähijuna R)
Onnibus: 7.30 – 9.55 (Yliopisto/Tampere talo)
Matkahuolto: 7.15 – 9.50

Jyväskylä-Tampere

Train: 7.20 – 8.50 (IC)
Onnibus: 6.15 – 8.05 (Yliopisto/Tampere talo)
Matkahuolto: 7.30 – 9.45

Turku-Tampere

Train: 7.00 – 8.42 (IC)

The one-page abstract should include the title of the presentation together with the name, affiliation, and e-mail address of the participant.

The full paper to be submitted upon registration (after the notification of acceptance) should be 10-12 pages in length, and presentable in about 20 minutes.

Please NOTE that both acceptance of submitted abstract and registration with full paper are required for participation in the congress! The abstracts and papers should be sent via e-mail to tommi.vehkavaara@uta.fi

The presentations related with their individual research projects can be given either in English or in Finnish, but the use of English is strongly encouraged.


Graduate conference 24-26 October 2016

The network continues to organize an annual doctoral conference with commentators for the doctoral students. The next conference will be held in Tampere, during fall 2016. The network aims to help with the accommodation and travel expenses of the participants.

  • 40 min. slots (including discussion) for individual speakers.
  • Recruitment of competent supervisors/commentators.
  • No parallel sessions.
  • All the participants will be accommodated by the organizer 
  • Conference dinner (Tuesday evening, Ravintola Telakka, 2nd floor)

Programme - Schedule about 9.30 am to 18 pm from Mon to Wed. In the first day (Monday) we start at 10.15.
