This information is outdated! I have currently no time to work on this matter and have not completed my work on OMSA 5.0 and probably will not complete it in near future.

There is some other ongoing effort on Debian & OMSA. You can read about it from at least these postings (Linux-Poweredge mailing list):

There is no actual documentation about these packages, but as far as I know, they somewhat follow the procedure I used for packaging OMSA 4.4 for Debian.

News

2006-06-07 OMSA 5.0 is out! I have started packaging it for Debian Sarge. I don't have any schedule for it, but I will probably get base components done during June. You can check my progress here.
2006-05-22 Dell is working on OMSA 5.0. It doesn't need any additional kernel modules -- the one (dcdbas) included in the vanilla kernel is enough. Hurray for Dell on this one! Still waiting for it, tho' :o)
2006-05-22 The OMSA driver (dcdbas) included in the vanilla kernel is not compatible with OMSA 4.4. Please use the driver provided on my OMSA 4.4 page.
2005-11-18 I noticed that there's a new kernel module "dcdbas" in Linux 2.6.14. I'm not yet sure if this driver can be used with OMSA. I will investigate this meanwhile I'm making a Debian package of OMSA 4.5.
2005-11-17 I created a new index page. I will collect all OMSA on Debian related stuff on this page, including links to other documents etc. This should make it easier to follow what's happening about OMSA.
